Hello and welcome to your morning Hive, Tuesday edition! This Hive will probably only be read by myself and the other members of OHD as you all are out and voting, but it’s okay, I forgive you. Election day is finally here. To be honest, I can’t stand the campaigning or political ads (because they are aired a ridiculous amount), but there is always something about Election Day that I have enjoyed. It’s just one of those things that makes America special–like football, fast food, and mullets. Sure, other countries have them, but we do it better.
Speaking of football, how about those Buckeyes? I knew it was possible for this football team to be 10-0 at the bye-week, but honestly, I thought Ohio State would likely be 9-1 or 8-2 at this point. But with a little luck and a whole lot of determination, this team has finally done what last year’s team failed to do: shock the world. And as Urban Meyer says, the best thing about being 10-0 is the chance to go 11-0. Unfortunately, Buckeye Nation will have to wait until November 17th to watch their beloved Buckeyes again when Ohio State heads to Camp Randall to take on Bert Bielema and the Wisconsin Badgers. In the meantime, though, we can all enjoy the victory over Illinois and root for Nebraska to win this weekend. If the Cornhuskers win out, TTUN will not represent the Legends Division in the Big Ten Championship Game and that sounds good to me.
How about we delve into the morning Hive? Okay, sounds good.
The bye week during an Ohio State football season is usually never a good thing for Ohio State fans. However, this bye week will be okay as Buckeye hoops begin their season this weekend. As most of you know, Ohio State will open this Friday night against the Marquette Golden Eagles in the Carrier Classic. Like Michigan State and North Carolina last season, OSU and Marquette will play their game on an aircraft carrier. The Buckeyes’ game will take place on the USS Yorktown in Charleston, South Carolina. Ohio State-Marquette is one of 4 military-themed games. The other ones are Michigan State vs. Connecticut, which will take place on Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Syracuse vs. San Diego State on the USS Midway in San Diego, and Florida vs. Georgetown in Jacksonville, Florida. Yesterday, from their Twitter account @OhioStateHoops, the Buckeye basketball program tweeted images of what the coaches and players are going to be wearing Friday. They also tweeted a picture showing the court and seats being built on the USS Yorktown. Those images can be seen on their Twitter account under the “Recent Images” section–click here.
Bleacher Report has a rundown of Braxton Miller’s top-10 plays of the season. That can be found here.
Ryan Shazier was honored as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. More can be seen here.
Until then and as always, y’all, Go Bucks and Go America!
