Happy work week Hivers and welcome to your Monday Morning Hive. In two weeks, I will finally be able to talk about an actual football game. The level of excitement for this is insurmountable. Just as Coach Meyer tells his players to be in the video clip below, I am hungry. Hungry for breakfast, because it is morning, but also hungry for this new era of Buckeye football and the amount of Raisin’ Cane’s I get to eat when I visit Columbus.
Not too much news to report this week, which is probably a good thing. As cliche is it sounds, we are definitely in that “calm before the storm” phase. Saturday, the AP released its preseason Top 25. One sign that these polls are pretty much useless is that Notre Dame somehow continuously makes it either in the top 25 or somewhere close. For the No. 18 Buckeyes climbing these ranks is all about making a statement. Ohio State is ineligible for any sort of bowl play or the Big Ten Championship, so if they did climb the ranks I think we can all let out a bittersweet sigh. Meanwhile, the 2012 captains were announced yesterday. John Simon, Jordan Hall, Garrett Goebel, Etienne Sabino and Zack Boren will be this year’s leaders after being chosen by their peers. Simon is only the seventh two-time captain, with the last being James Laurinaitis.
After a weekend of travel, I’m keeping this post short this week and will leave you with a snippet from ESPNU All Access Training Days at Ohio State. The program began airing last week and there will be a few more showings in the week to come.
