I missed the commitment of Doran Grant on here while I was in New Orleans, but I’m grateful not to miss Ohio State’s newest addition. Ejuan Price, a linebacker from Woodland Hills, PA, committed to the Buckeyes this evening. He will follow his cousin Dorian Bell to Ohio State. So, yes, the Price is right for Ohio State, or Ohio State is right for Price. That should do it for Price is Right puns for this post. Moving forward.
A recruiting class that I thought would be very light on linebackers now has three. Ohio State picked up the first linebacker in 2011′s class with Conner Crowell’s commitment. It added another by the welcomed second retirement of Urban Meyer from Gainesville, rerouting Under Armour All-American Ryan Shazier to Columbus for winter quarter. Further, Ohio State may not be done. It still has irons in the fire for Curtis Grant and Stanford commitment James Vaughters, whose future head coach and position coach bolted for the 49ers.
With all that in mind, the commitment of Price is notable because Ohio State never wavered in its interest in Price. Even when I thought he might look elsewhere (namely Iowa) because of other interest in the likes of Grant, Shazier, Wallace and more, Ohio State remained in contact. While the process dragged out, Price nevertheless knew a week ago that Ohio State is where he wanted to be.
“I basically knew since last Wednesday,” Price said.
Both Jim Tressel and Luke Fickell made the trip to Pittsburgh to pay Price a visit for an in-home trip but it seemed as if there was very little suspense involved with this visit.
“The visit was cool but they already knew for real though,” Price joked.
Price is expected to factor into the WILL linebacker picture, much like Dorian Bell.
I do not know what the commitment of Price means for Ohio State’s chances with Curtis Grant, who would be a real nice addition to this class. Nevertheless, Price’s commitment is important because he is undervalued. I think Ohio State’s coaching staff knows that too, which is why they never lost interest in him. Film is below.
