Ohio State’s recruiting roll continues today.  Having secured tight end Nick Vannett earlier in the week, the Buckeyes pick up the commitment of Ron Tanner, a defensive back prospect from Eastmoor Academy.  Tanner announced his decision at a press conference in the school’s library this morning.

Like Vannett, the local boy had a heterogeneous set of offers to consider before selecting the Buckeyes.  Offers came from a regional heavyweight like Michigan as well as farlung places like Stanford, Arizona and Duke.  Tanner, who projects as a safety for the Buckeyes, ultimately chose Ohio State for a variety of reasons.  It is close to home and the coaching staff is to his liking.

Ohio State fans will be glad to know that Tanner also chose Ohio State, citing it as the perfect combination of athletic and academic prowess available to him.  Tanner takes the latter category, academics, seriously.  He holds a 3.75 GPA and a 21 on the ACT, providing important context to an offer from a place like Stanford.  Rivals also lists an offer from Yale.  While Ivy League schools are prohibited from making scholarship offers on anything other than academic merit or financial need, the interest appears to be there.

As always, kids who want to be Buckeyes, especially those from Archie Griffin’s old high school, are welcome additions.  Film comes after the jump.  His future helmet will be an instant upgrade from the current oneVideo interview w/ Bill Kurelic is also available.

By any chance, do you have video of the David Brown INT vs Purdue, circa 1986????? It was officially 100yds, but he caught it in the back of the EZ and it was actually 107yds. Just asking.

Its been awhile since you have uploaded a video. I vote for 1982 SCum game. 24-14 victory.
