Ohio State Adds First 2012 Commitment
Josh is a camp offer, albeit one that will be starting his junior, not senior, year of high school. Already an academic overachiever (3.8 GPA) and an all-state caliber long-jumper with verbal offers from places like Michigan State, Duke and Cincinnati, Josh blew away the coaching staff over the weekend. A verbal offer came immediately for the strong Buckeye lean and a meeting with Tressel today made it official. Josh is the total package for a coaching staff thinking of extending an early offer: a freak athlete with room to develop and impeccable grades and who does not need much convincing in order to commit.
The fact that he was recruited by Luke Fickell suggests that linebacker is in his future. Josh is still growing into his body, so the current 6’3 210lb junior-to-be may become a defensive linemen in the future. It is important to note that Josh cannot receive a written scholarship offer until September 1st of his junior year, meaning that the offer, like the commitment, is strictly verbal at this time. Still, no one is expecting a defection in the near future. I only mention this because he’s beat Jordan Whiting’s early commitment by a month and a half.
Film comes after the jump.
