This week promises to be another huge one for Ohio State recruiting. It started with the commitment of the first 2012 prospect, Josh Perry out of Olentangy HS.  It may end with the commitment of Ronald Tanner out of Columbus’ Eastmoor Academy, whose commitment presser is coming at the end of the week.  In between, Nick Vannett finally announced he will be part of the Buckeyes’ 2011 class.

Vannett is a tight end out of Westerville’s Central HS who was long rumored to be a Buckeye lean.  The interest in him developed after it became readily apparent that Ben Koyack was seriously considering his other options, culminating in a commitment to Notre Dame.  A commitment to Ohio State by Vannett was rumored to be forthcoming months ago, though he held off.  However, his commitment seemed certain when he announced that his decision would come today.  He followed through today, choosing Ohio State over a heterogeneous set of offers that included Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame and many other options.

His commitment will complement Jeff Heuerman’s prior commitment well.  With two tight ends in the class, the coaching staff has met its objectives for the position in this class.

Film comes after the jump.
