Braxton Miller Commits To Ohio State
The commitment is certainly welcome for Buckeye fans, given the position and the way that the coaching staff recruits it. Ohio State maintains a very targeted approach to recruiting quarterbacks, made most prominent in their recruitment of Terrelle Pryor. Most staffs usually like to have a quarterback in a recruiting class and this staff identified Miller as their target. So did several other programs. Miller’s commitment to Ohio State came over Florida, who most pegged as the no. 2 option. He also acquired offers from Alabama, USC, Georgia and Notre Dame along the way.
It also says a lot that the coaching staff is getting everything it wants along the way. Braxton Miller was the quarterback they had their eye on for the past year or two, and he gave the coaching staff an early commitment. They needed a tight end and got one with Jeff Heuerman. Further, the coaching staff has followed a lineman-light 2010 recruiting class with the likes of Brian Bobek, Antonio Underwood, Chris Carter and Tommy Brown. Just about everything is turning up Ohio State on the recruiting front.
The hype for Miller is outstanding, and he has every bit the ceiling that most attribute to him. Assuming Terrelle Pryor stays through his senior year, a lot are expecting him to be starting after only his first year on campus. For the meantime, we celebrate the commitment and look forward to great things from Braxton Miller in the future.
Postscript
Fox Sports Ohio and Scout seriously wanged this. Fox Sports Ohio’s advertised live feed was not provided and Scout may have actually jumped the gun on his commitment, putting the article online before Miller took the stage. Oh well.

Interesting highlights. I only saw one hand-off (by him) in the whole video (near the end). No option pitches, end-arounds, or stuff like that. Maybe I blinked and missed something. He’s certainly athletic, but as a recruiting video, this clip doesn’t completely paint a well-rounded QB. Clearly, his HS team relied heavily on him. Some good passes/decisions shown, along with a few lucky receptions (poor decision/good catch/weak defense). Rifle passes too. Talent and growth potential, to be sure.
Good stuff! Welcome to the family!
The live feed was on for the news conference. I watched the entire thing
Lots of potential there. He already looks much better than Pryor as far as throwing mechanics. He might not be as big as Pryor but he’s as athletic and has some really good open field moves. Hopefully we can open up the offense for the next 4-5 years with Terrelle maturing and Braxton learning the ropes for a year or so.
Don’t Count out Kenny Guiton just yet…. it will be a nice battle for #1 and Taylor Graham may find himself the odd man out.
