Our Honor Defend

It’s Halloween today, but most importantly, it’s game time. Ohio State, who runs a week-to-week gauntlet this season as they did in 2007, gets a reprieve from conference play before it gets murderer’s row (Penn State, Iowa, Michigan).  That reprieve is the 3-5 New Mexico State Aggies.  The worst offense in college football is Ohio State’s closest thing to a bye Ohio State gets all season.  This is a golden opportunity to rest some key players.

Questions, naturally, abound.  This is the first time Ohio State has been favored by such an absurd margin since the Buckeyes hosted the Ohio Bobcats in 1999 (I think).  My knowledge of Buckeye football from 1999 to 2001 is a little hazy, but I believe the Buckeyes were actually down at intermission to the Bobcats before turning it into a 40-16 laugher.   Can the Buckeyes actually cover this weekend?  Vegas expects it, but I kind of don’t.  I think it’s been far too long since we’ve put up some Nintendo numbers on people.  I’d like to at least get that out of our system against the Aggies.

The game is on BTN, so I’m not sure how much of it I’ll get to see.  I’m toying with the idea of roaming into one of the bars down here (the few that open so early) to catch it live.  If I do, I’ll get hassled (Buckeyes don’t play well down here).  When I get hassled, I get irritated.  When I get irritated, I get stabby.  Sooo…
