Buckeyes Get A Commitment from Another Corey Brown
The USC game last night saw the Buckeyes bring in a slew of college football recruits to watch the action. Among them was Under Armour All-American Corey Brown, listed as an athlete from Springfield, PA. Corey has offers from just about everyone in the country, and was even being recruited by Florida as a Percy Harvin type of player. After the USC game, Brown saw enough to his liking on the visit to give a verbal commitment to the Buckeyes. It is the 13th of the class so far.
Brown listed the atmosphere of the game as a selling point, meaning that, well, some good came out of yesterday’s result. He chose the Buckeyes over Miami (FL), Pitt, WVU and Rutgers. He’s coming in as an athlete, meaning he’ll be a running back or wide receiver for the Buckeyes.
Nevertheless, we need more happy thoughts in spite of the same ol’ chorus coming down on the Buckeyes from the media writ large. It should be fun to see what both Corey Browns have written on the back of their Buckeye jerseys.

This is welcome news. I hope other commitments follow. Tress and TP might not have brought it last night, but the fans were outstanding and showed the recruits what could await them if they make the right choice.
On a related note, I went to the Blackwell Inn bar after the game to hang with some friends and family. I went towards the back of the hotel to look for my sister, and out of an out of the way elevator popped Jordan Hicks with his student manager escort, and an otherwise disinterested Solomon Thomas, dressed smartly in his suit, talking on his cell phone and ignoring Hicks.
Hicks looks beastly. I am a bigger guy, nearly 6 foot 4, and Hicks was a shade taller than me. His shoulders are extremely wide and he looks like he could put on a lot more weight. I really hope he had a good experience at the game. He looked tired and by that point it was almost 1AM. I nearly said something to him about going to OSU, but I thought that would come off as creepy and bizarre. In any event, I’ve seen his film and sized him up in person, and he would be an incredibly important get for the 2010 class.
Great get! He has the speed we need!
