Check-In Day Has Not Been Uneventful
First up, something is wrong with Tyler Moeller. Moeller, the surprise story from the 2009 spring game, not only did not report to camp today, but he’s in the hospital. Hospital visits are never good, and the rumors surrounding why he’s in the hospital are really unfortunate. Ben Koo, a Bucknuts contributor, is reporting that Tyler Moeller was sucker-punched in a bar. Bucknuts reports the same rumor in the previously linked article, saying that the injury occurred a few weeks ago. However, Koo adds the unfortunate twist that Moeller never got his injuries checked out by a physician, ultimately resulting in recent brain surgery that will cost him his junior year. Shelly Poe, team spokeswoman, hasn’t chimed in yet. Moeller’s injury and absence has naturally brought down the mood surrounding check-in.
Second, Ray Small and Rob Rose didn’t report after all. Rob Rose’s absence is not surprising, since most people reported he was in more serious trouble than Small. Small, for his part, was on a day-to-day basis. While his name came up alongside Rose, his father told the Plain Dealer that Ray was looking forward to camp. I guess it should therefore be not surprising as well that Ray is absent. Rose’s absence is negligible, since the defensive line is fortunately loaded. Small, though, would be a huge loss for the Buckeyes. Aside from being a prominent name in the Buckeyes’ receiving game (likely as the 3rd wide receiver), he was also the Big Ten’s best punt returner in 2008.
The absence of these three leads to an interesting situation for the Buckeyes. 103 reported with the 3 noted absences of Moeller, Small and Rose. 105 are allowed to report, and whoever is not part of the 105 man roster will miss the first game of the season. This should be interesting to follow.
If you’re interested, Bucknuts has a photo gallery up. Terrelle Pryor looks as big as Sam Longo.

He has plenty of eligiblity left. (Moeller) He redshirted in 2006. Was a redshirt Frosh in 07, sophomore in 08, and supposed to be a junior this year. Senior in 2010. He could always apply for a sixth year, the NCAA does grant them from time to time. And they do that when they have serious injuries or illness’ that they deem as out of the players control. So if Tyler can come back from this injury. He will have some time to play for tOSU.
I think tOSU can apply for a medical redshirt. I am not 100% on that, but I think they may be able to do it!
Did Ray Small report ? There were reports he had academic issues again……………..
My bad…………..I jumped the gun a bit before finishing the article.
I think I read somewhere (was it Bucknuts’ forum?) that Ray Small did not report because, per his father, he’s anticipating a grade in a History class that is yet to be posted.
Stoneburner looks like a TE………….Sam Longo is a freaking beast , as someone stated on the pics ( he definately passes the look test. Good lord………..
4 weeks to go , I am pumped.
Moeller’s situation just sucks. I hope his surgery goes ok.
Not to sound ign’int, but can someone elaborate on what goes on during fall camp? How many practices are there? Are there open practices this year? Do they play full pad, tackle, QB live scrimmages? I’m not well versed in what precisely goes on during the camp.
