Kudos to you, Santonio Holmes

Your 9 catches, 131 yards, Super Bowl MVP performance — including 4 crucial catches in the game-winning drive — won the Super Bowl for a team that I cannot stand.  But, in doing so, you made NBC’s Al Michaels credit you as coming from THE Ohio State University.  Yes, your performance was that good that you made Al Michaels elaborate on the university’s name with the same emphasis we all exert on the THE.  It was the same gusto you displayed in the player introductions for the Steelers’ first drive.

I think I speak on behalf of everyone involved with this blog that we don’t recognize the legitimacy of any NFL playoffs where the Cleveland Browns do not participate.  Further, the Steelers are no friends of ours.  But, if Ohio State’s season must end in some kind of soul-crushing disappointment, we take some kind of comfort in knowing that an alumnus of the Buckeye football program will win a Super Bowl ring in just a couple weeks time1.

Congratulations, and enjoy the moment.  You earned it.

    Vico, are you certain that your information is correct? Because I highly doubt that anyone, especially a receiver that played for Ohio State and therefore ipso facto lacks ESSS-EEEE-CCCCC SPEED!!!!11!!! KILLZ!1!!!! could possibly win Super Bowl MVP.

    I did a fact check and I think my data is correct. I think that just happened. An Ohio State Buckeye just won MVP honors on the biggest stage.

    And while I might have to double check this one, I’m pretty sure I heard the Steelers fans still in attendance during the post game festivities chant “AAA-EFF-CEE NORTH! AAA-EFF-CEE NORTH! AAA-EFF-CEE NORTH! “

    Ahh, I think I found the discrepancy here; Holmes is from Florida, which as everyone knows is SEC COUNTRY BAYBY@@!@!!11!!!

    Hence, he has natural SEC SPEED, but curiously chose to go to O$U; my guess? The free corvettes.

    Wrong, most SEC dudes lose thier speed when they move North. Clearly, Mr. Holmes possesses some sort of SEC super power that even TOSU can’t negate.
