Beanie Watch: Sept 1

Posted by Gabby Jay in Buckeye Football |

Buckeye fans may have spent all of their Labor Day frantically reloading all their news sites for the latest updates on the most talked-about toe in the world.  At least I did.  However, they will enter tomorrow still looking for more information.  The football team released this statement earlier, though it leaves fans hanging.

“Beanie Wells is NOT practicing today and continues to wear a protective boot on his right foot. He has been diligent in taking as many treatments as possible from our athletic trainers the past two days. Other than that, nothing definitive to report on his diagnosis or prognosis timeline.”

I have a feeling this is going to go on awhile, and may become something of a soap opera for Buckeye fans. Complete with suspense. After all, I just kind of have this guess that Beanie is going to no-show the Ohio game and then have the suspense climax in a decision before the Buckeyes’ third Game of the Century in the 2000s alone.

As The World Turns... 1980s soap nostalgia FTW

Either way, Brandon Saine might need to step up.

You and I both know that Beanie and the Buckeyes are going to milk this one for a LONG time.

He’s fine, and he’ll be kept out of outdoors practices all week, then sidelined for the Ohio game.

On Monday, USC will begin to practice not knowing if they’ll face Beanie.

Tressel will continue to give out “unsure if he’ll play” press conferences, and then Beanie will be in the starting lineup next Saturday night in LA.

Sometimes coaches can play the game off the field as well as they do on it.
