Dead Period

Posted by Vico in OHD news |

I’ll be going on my own self-imposed dead period here, since I’m, well, exhausted from everything (work, more work, and et  cetera).  I hope to be back next week with the Brewster feature in tow.  I don’t want to detract from the Pryor feature below, so click the link to get below the fold.
In the meantime, I’ll be dedicating myself to my new project: The OHD Situation Room.

The OHD Situation Room

For anyone unfamiliar, I did most of my work recently on that crappy functional Compaq Presario 2209CL laptop (60GB hard drive, 512MB RAM, 1.4 Ghz processor and a screen that topped out at 1024×768) you see to the right.  It did the job, but it wasn’t very efficient.  I’ve since added to it recently with the Compumatic 761, complete with a Buckeyelogical Datafier™ (500GB hard drive, 4GB RAM, dual core e2220 2.4 Ghz processor) and the OhioTron 9000™ (LG Flatron 17″, 3000:1 contrast ratio).  The additions to the situation room come courtesy of the OHD Quality Assurance/Quality Control, seen below testing the new computer by watching the 2006 Fiesta Bowl.

Without boring anyone still reading too much, the only reason I mention all of this is to say that, with this new addition to the OHD Situation Room, I plan on doing full game summaries for YouTubes before too long.  This is something that I just couldn’t do with the laptop.  The goal is to do what WolverineHistorian has been doing for Michigan fans, except do it for the other side in the war of good against evil.  And don’t say which side is which… it should be obvious.  By the end of the week, and with Linux installed, I hope to crank out a highlight film of the 1975 Buckeye victory against Penn State.  I’m thinking about getting a TV tuner for it as well, but still unsure if I would really use it.

Oh, and on the Situation Room:

  • Yes, that blacked-out space in the second picture is a photo of me with college friends.  It was deemed too boring for popular consumption, and thus was blacked-out.
  • Yes, that’s my dad’s vintage Beat Michigan pin held by a magnet on the file cabinet.  That pin is at least 10 years older than I am, and I use it to make sure I never forget what the primary objective is in blogging, or indeed: in anything I do.
  • Yes, that’s a photo of Woody Hayes hanging over the desk.  Woody talks to me as I work at home.  He tells me to kill. them. all.
  • Yes, that’s an Ohio flag hanging over the bed. Yes, I’m way too devoted to the Great State of Ohio.
  • Yes, that’s an IBM Model M 84-key (part#: 1391472) “spacesaver” clicky keyboard.  Yes, it’s an authentic one, made in November 1987.  No, you may not touch it.. and, yes… you’re jealous.  Youuuuuurrr’e jealous…

Lastly, though not related to anything here, if what Jeff at the Buckeye Battle Cry told me is correct, guess who this happy fellow is in the no. 2 jersey:

Buckeyes celebrate the first Buckeye TD against Michigan in 1987. Guess who that no. 2 is?
  1. please, someone, tell me you know what SNL skit I’m referencing… []

    Yep, that’s me.

I can’t provide DNA evidence, but computerized space-age technological advances might be able to take that photo, remove the face-paint I was wearing, and age the photo 21 years. Then we can see if the faces match up. Hell, I’ll even put on the same #2 jersey that I was wearing that day to add to the “ooh, wow it is him” effect.

    Thanks Vico. You’re the greatest!

Did the OHD Quality Assurance/Quality Control Staff get a new member. The last time I saw it, I thought it was just Brutus and the OSU gnome?
