Well, I done did it now

Me, hard at work on my work computer. We use the latest and greatest technology at my job.
Evidently laptops aren’t built for heavy video editing, especially when their warranties expired years ago.

That said, my hard drive in my Compaq Presario 2209CL has passed on.  It is no more.  It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet its maker.  It is a stiff.  Bereft of life, it rests in peace… It has kicked the bucket. It has shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible.

Simply put, it is an ex-hard drive.

To make matters worse, there isn’t a Best Buy for miles around here.  The Circuit City nearby was disqualified as a candidate for my business after an employee there told me they haven’t had an internal laptop hard drive in stock for 6 months.  The employee in question was doubly disqualified for not knowing the difference between IDE and SATA.

Basically, this means any attempt to post stuff will have to come from my work computer, and I’ll be reticent to do too much in fear of meddling coworkers catching me in the act.  Granted, I take all necessary precautions at work, faithfully deleting all private data from the browser when I do update from work, but I’m still paranoid.

It’s a shame, too.  I had some good YouTubes updates to add.

    Bummer…

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go back to looking at stuff online… on my computer… at home… that works…

If you hadn’t nailed your laptop to the perch, it’d be pushin up the daisies!

Let this be a lesson. Get a USB HD, and mirror the hell out of your LT drive. I’ve been through 3 in the last 4 years, and only lost data the FIRST time. Backing that shit up ain’t just fo yo ho’s ass.

actually, by the grace of my parents (as a birthday gift last year), I already have a USB HD and had just about everything backed up. I didn’t lose any real data (documents, music and whatever) and I store a lot of personal notes (like with the blog and what-not) on my Google account.

It’s just with a hard drive that’s stone dead after 3+ years of continuous use and heavy video editing of recent, I can’t boot/install anything, not even a Linux live CD. The plumage don’t enter into it.

Is your mouse … a steam iron? Your keyboard is kool, but your monitor looks rather low resolution. Looks like a circa 1930′s gaming platform. You’re probably playing SimTrench, the Great War game. No doubt, your Morse Code prowess gave you countless hours of on-line gaming with your buddies.
