Darrion Scott pleads guilty to child endangerment

Darrion Scott
I’m surprised I didn’t pick up on this story earlier. I might have been lost in work when the charges were filed in April 30 of this year. That said, Darrion Scott announced a guilty plea to the charge of child endangerment, a misdemeanor offense. Scott, a former Buckeye (2000-2004) who last played for the Vikings in 2007, plead guilty to the charge of child endangerment in lieu of facing felony charges associated with his parental negligence.

Those charges, you ask?

According to the criminal complaint, the boy’s mother heard the child’s muffled cries and found Scott, 6 feet 3 inches and 290 pounds, holding the bag over the boy’s head. She said that the boy was on his back on the floor, his legs kicking, and that Scott was holding the bag tightly around the boy’s neck.

Hmm. No sir, I don’t like it.

By pleading guilty to a misdemeanor child endangerment charge, Scott will avoid third degree felony charges and domestic assault charges. That said, he is still facing the prospects of a one-year jail sentence, however unlikely jail time is for the former Buckeye. I’m guessing he’ll end up having to take a How Not to Parent Like An Idiot 101 class at a learning annex somewhere.

That’s crazy. I can remember his name coming up in “most likely to carry a shank” conversations while watching games with my friends.

Yea I have to say it’d be nice to have some guys with his anger and intensity out on the field, but then you realize he’s probably actually crazy.
