OHD getting published
Of course, we’re going to be credited as a team even though I did squat for the article. I think Vic told me to look over the articles in an e-mail he sent, and I think my responses were “yeah, fine, whatever”. But since we’re getting paid a good amount for it and because I responded to an e-mail, I think I should be compensated too. Vic is getting the triple digit check, which means I think I should at least get a pitcher of beer for my troubles.
We’re grateful to both the publisher and editor for the opportunity to contribute to the periodical among other luminaries like Jack Park, Bruce Hooley and Doug Lesmerises and can only hope that our contribution is up to par with their efforts. Of course, if it does, then the key here is “our efforts” and if it doesn’t, the key here is “Vico screwed up”.
The editor sent Vic the Table of Contents that he was hoping for, and apparently the editor said we can spread the news on what everyone is contributing.

The magazine is set to be published in July, and we encourage you to check it out. If you live in Ohio, you should be able to find it in any magazine rack that you would find in either a bookstore or a grocery store. If you happen to live in, well… Alabama, you might want to order it online or, in our case, rely on the editor to send a few copies. Our parents need not worry, since we’ll make sure they get a copy.
Buy early and buy often. We get royalties for each copy sold. We actually don’t, but we like to tell ourselves that as we scrape together food for lunch.
- I went with the radio edit. I think I would get in trouble if I didn’t. [↩]

I’m really looking forward to the Hartline article. I think the article talks about how he took a year off from football to enlist in the Green Berets, only to return and find that most people don’t appreciate his obvious greatness and that all his army buddies have died from Agent Orange. He then lashes out at the society that betrayed him, resulting in a massive manhunt to track him down in some isolated stretch of forest. He is eventually captured, though not before he destroys several police equipment and facilities. After his incarceration, Hartline is contracted by the US military to return to Vietnam as a glorified soldier of fortune and retrieve the POWs that those commies are obviously holding prisoner, though they insist that they have no POWs because they are commies and thus chronic liars. He attempts to break one POW out of prison, only to be betrayed by the US military and recaptured and tortured by the Soviets, who, because of their mega-commieness, are also allied with the Vietnamese. He befriends a Vietnamese rebel woman who enters the camp under the guise of a prostitute and breaks Hartline out of jail. Hartline steals a Soviet-issue helicopter and goes one a one-man killing spree that claims 69 fatalities. I think that’s how the story goes… or maybe I’m just thinking of the first two Rambo movies.
The Bruce Hooley article, the one that deals with America’s “Buckeye fatigue”, is actually a one sentence essay. Basically, America can overcome its “Buckeye fatigue” with a healthy dose of Beanie, to be washed down with a nice warm glass of shut the hell up.
Oh, and basically for your efforts Gabby, I’ll contribute halfsies for a pitcher that we both get to share. I don’t know where you’re getting the idea you’re entitled to a full pitcher.
Hooray
OHD! Two-time winners of the Internets, now taking the publishing world by storm!
Hooray Firefox!
IE, at work, won’t let me comment at OHD. But Firefox does! It’s absolutely true, and revealed for the first time, here, at OHD: “When you surf the net with Internet Explorer, you surf the net with michigan!”
dude, either I get a pitcher tonight or I share your latest embarrassing Alabama bar experience with the blogosphere again.
Oh, expletive deleted. You’ve got a deal.
Not on the list above, but Jason Lloyd penned a terrific article about OSU’s recent success in taking unheralded recruits and turning them into stars.

Gabby, if Vico is willing to cave-in to your extortion, just how embarrassing was it … and shit?
not nearly as embarrassing as the alcoholic single mom, but, during the chain of events, the words “eww, you’re touching me” came out of his mouth as some woman was getting very “handsy” with him.
We win….Where is our Hogan-esque feather boa?
On that note, I thought about titling the post “OHD goes Hollywood”, but I think I’ve reached a quota on pro wrestling references for this blog.
thanks for the catch, Sean. I updated the post accordingly.
I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy to read what you guys and the other authors have written. And shit.
(I see the BBC2008 has climbed to #6 on their best-seller list.)
wow, it’s outsold every other CFB magazine they have listed. Buckeye fans spend serious cash for all-things Buckeye football. They must be as anxious as I am to read Matt Markey’s detailed account of Brian Hartline’s Rambo-like commando raids and killing sprees.
