the weekend that was

server fun: I really had no intention to do heavy blogging over the weekend, but, for whatever reason, the site was down the entire time. Never got an explanation, but I’m guessing the culprit is some kind of sorcery or bad ju-ju.  Server should be slow in the interim. We’re back though, but we did miss some stuff, namely…

Bucks pick up commitment no. 8: Jamie Wood, a probable safety product from Pickerington (6′1-6′2 190lbs), committed to the Buckeyes over the weekend. Jamie is one of those wonderful athletes — the all-purpose stud — you get at the HS level that plays both ways but probably ends up at defense in college. And that’s a good thing too, since he lights people up on tackles. Meanwhile…

Basketball Bucks lose again: No surprise there, though, as popular media now starts to put the Buckeyes as a “bubble team”. Honestly, I wrote these guys off in large part following that three game stretch in January where they lost on the road to Michigan State, Purdue and Tennessee. Granted those are all great teams, but the story was the same for each game and the ones that followed: an awesome young center on a team that struggles with the post entry pass, a perimeter oriented team (with aforementioned promising young center) that can’t make its jumpshots, David Lighty actively regressing before our very eyes in what I can only hope can be called a “sophomore slump”, Diebler struggling in his first year at the college level and senior leadership that amounts to a 6th man center who doesn’t score, a starting power forward with 5 total years of basketball experience, and an exceptional starting guard who, if the last game was any indication, has given up. Oh well, the bigger story from that game…

Pryor in town, friend gets offer: Terrelle Pryor took time away from his schedule to visit the Bucks was seen palling around with Mike Adams and Jim Tressel. Apparently TP left with Tressel at the half, so I guess TP didn’t have to watch what we watched. Which is good. The curious thing, of course, is that Pryor wasn’t the main subject of the trip, rather his teammate Jordan Hall (son of the Pryor’s HS QB coach Roy Hall). Hall was without offer coming into Columbus, but given the recent loss of Bryce Brown to the Hurricanes and, from what I’m guessing, waning interest in Bud Golden, Hall picked up an official offer from Tressel and staff. Hall already has offers from Pitt and Michigan, among others, but said he would be very interested in Ohio State if they offered. TP likes him and his abilities, and if the staff agrees, I think it would be a safe bet to say that the follows TP to Columbus if that’s where Pryor ends up going. I’m certain Hall also has a similar offer from Penn State, so going there, of course, is equally likely [UPDATE: uncertainty on the status of Hall's offer, according to BP] .

    Fellas-

Any of you high rollers have a subscriber account to Rivals? Mike Farrell, the only guy who calls more high schoolers than Kelvin Sampson, has Pryor’s comments from his visit up and just teasing everyone who can’t see them.

I’m sure its really substantial info this time too.

    Hey Dave,

There’s the usual short summary of $$ articles up on BP:

Thanks Jax. Sounds like the article was pretty thin–shocking.

I also heard that the visit was supposed to be low-key, which kind of validates Pryor’s “leave me alone” comments earlier last week. Piecing the whole thing together in a creepy, voyeuristic kind of way I’d say he spent most of his time hanging out with Shug and the gang, which is better news than any.
